About Keith Adams

During my career I have been fortunate to gain considerable depth, width and breadth of experience in eight schools. I have taught the full Primary range from reception to year 6. I have been a deputy headteacher in two schools and a headteacher in three as well as an associate headteacher of a further two schools. I have worked as a Primary School Adviser with the responsibility of working with over 30 schools in challenging or very challenging circumstances. I am now a consultant with Focus Education. This work has enabled me to support and challenge schools across England as well as abroad. I also write and deliver bespoke training and have co- written a number of publications designed to support the work of schools.

These are extremely challenging times for teachers and school leaders but the fundamentals as to what constitutes a good school do not change. Schools must continue to be in pursuit of excellence and raise standards of attainment. To accommodate this we must ensure the quality of teaching is consistently high and a climate of high expectation must be evident. Everyone involved in a school must continually challenge the acceptance of mediocrity. Children must be given the opportunity to broaden and deepen their knowledge and understanding within a curriculum that enables them to develop a love for learning as well as a thirst for success and excellence.
